Since 2010, Frey has managed Navy Pier’s digital brand, all with the goal of gaining online traction. When redesigning their website in 2013, we were faced with the challenge of creating a place where tourists could learn about all the Pier’s offerings – not just the Ferris Wheel. As one of the primary tourist spots in Chicago, we also needed to ensure the website was easy to navigate and fun to visit. Since launching the site, we’ve worked side-by-side with Navy Pier’s internal team to achieve these goals and continually keep the site up-to-date, accessible and organized.
Most recently, we worked to assist Navy Pier’s team with refreshing and enhancing key components of the site. We restructured the navigation to create a seamless experience for viewers, as well as strengthened the back end development with SEO management. We also transitioned the site from .com to .org to aid in firmly establishing the Pier as a cultural organization. Lastly, we placed a large emphasis on creating a dynamic events page with a special calendar and ticket purchasing integration, along with a custom map with filtering options to support unique viewer needs. Throughout all our work, we’ve strived to maintain the highest of quality for their website and showcase the Pier as the outstanding, must-be-seen Chicago destination we know it to be.
